We’ve been solving all types of attic-related problems for years, especially those concerning cleaning and decontamination. Now, we’re sharing our knowledge with you. Read our tips below and use them to your benefit.
Consider rodent proofing to protect your attic
If you've had a lot of trouble with rodents getting into your attic, or you know neighbors who have, getting the area rodent proofed can be the perfect solution to ensure it won't happen again. It assures that any potential entrances into your attic are covered with a strong material that can't be chewed through, and you won't have to worry about any further damage or disease getting inside. It's a quick process as well, so it won't be tedious to have done.
Get your attic cleaned regularly
Attic cleaning is most effective when it isn't put off until the last possible moment and only occurs rarely, and instead is done on a regular schedule. Even an annual cleaning is better than nothing, but twice a year may be best to help keep your home's air fresh and reduce risk of issues from things like rodents and mold. It also will make sure it's far easier to do, as there will be less to clear out the more frequently it's tended to.
Check your insulation for signs of age
If your attic's insulation has gotten too old, it won't be working as well and will lower your home's energy efficiency. You can check it as long as you're careful about it! Wearing a face mask and gloves, as well as clothing that covers your body, is a must to be sure you don't inhale any particles or touch the insulation directly. Then, simply press lightly on the insulation with your gloved hand. If it crumbles, that indicates it needs to be replaced.
